Ministries

Birth-12th Grade Christian Education

The Youth & Children’s Ministry Team provides children with a loving, safe & FUN environment to grow on their spiritual journey. The guiding philosophy of our program comes from the Bible verse John 14:34:

Jesus said, I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.

Our Children’s Ministry Programs intentionally strives to create a community of faith, bound together by the knowledge that we are all children of God. The Christian Ed Team works hard to provide many hands-on mission opportunities for children, where they can experience the joy of service. This includes activities during Sunday School, as well as, the JOY Team ministry. Please contact Rev. Steve Hong for more information about Sunday School and other CE Programs.

Sunday School

Sunday School is available to for children grades 3 years through 12 Grade. Programs run Sundays during the 10:00 AM service after the children’s message. Children stay in worship service for Communion Sundays (the first Sunday in each month) for a more interactive service.

Church Nursery

Children from infancy through 3 years are welcomed into a calm, nurturing environment staffed by a consistent caregiver and one volunteer (adult or teen). Nursery Care is available during  Sunday services from 9:45 – 11:00.

Pre-K Sunday School

Available for children 3 years to Kindergarten age meeting in the Pre-K Room after the children’s message. This class introduces children to  Christian Education, with an emphasis on developmentally appropriate fun!

Workshop Rotation Method (WoRM)

Available for children Kindergarten-5th Grade and meets in the CE Wing after the children’s message. Our program includes three workshops that teach the same Bible story from three perspectives: Joyful Noise, the dramatic recreation of the story; Creations, an artful expression of the story; and The Moral of the Story, using science and food to demonstrate present day applications to children. The WoRM allows children to experience the Bible story in a way that appeals to them and is easy to remember. The CE Wing is LOUD on a Sunday morning—there is no doubt that God’s love is felt, taught and HEARD here!

Youth Sunday School

Youth in 6th-12th Grade read scripture and devotions, watch relevant videos, and discuss how faith informs their daily lives.

Confirmation Classes

Confirmation classes are available approximately every other year for youth in 7th Grade and up. The classes are led by our Pastor and the YCM Director for 10 weeks, culminating in a worship service.

Communion Workshops

Communion Workshops are provided yearly to teach children 3rd Grade and up about participating in the Lord’s Supper at our church. Children learn about the sacrament then prepare the Communion bread for Sunday’s worship.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is held every summer, Monday through Friday mornings from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Featured are music, lessons, recreation, snacks, science, mission and crafts. Vacation Bible School is open to all children in the community, ages starting Kindergarten through 5th grade. Pre-Registration is required. Teens are invited to volunteer as helpers.

Youth Group

Youth Group is a wonderful way to teach 6th-12th Graders the value of service and faith fellowship.

NO NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF CHURCH TO PARTICIPATE!

Youth Group activities include:

  • A monthly community service activity (ie: supporting Heart and Soul Soup Kitchen,
Community Missions, raking leaves and community clean-up) often with the JOY Team
  • Fun and games (lunch together most Sundays, “lock-in” slumber parties at church, camping and kayaking, ice skating, bowling, and so much more!)
  • Mission Trip (Youth travel to a different city to experience and address the needs of other communities. This week of service transforms the lives of teens as they learn how much need there is in the world and how they can truly create change)
  • Presbyterian Youth Triennium (A national conference for youth to deepen their faith that takes place every three years.
  • Fundraisers to support Mission Trip and Triennium (car washes, rummage sale, bake sales, etc.)

For more information, please contact the church office or Monica Barner.
